Imagined Choreographies is the over-arching choreographic approach my collaborator Ilana Reynolds and I have developed in our artistic research project on how to encounter the presence of someone who is in fact absent. Under the constraint that we never meet in the flesh and have never done so far, since July 2018, we investigate through spoken and written text, movement, and performance, the imbricated relation(s) between presence and absence: how do we meet a body that is not here? And what do we share?
Our ongoing research generates a body of work in the form of dance scores, choreographic concepts, and performance installations that has been presented in dance studios, theatres, galleries, and as printed matter in Germany and across Europe.
